Tiramisu

Here is a recipe by a French postdoc, Delfine, who worked down the hall from me for several years. She brought Tiramisu to a laboratory party once and it was amazing. She waved it off, saying that it was the simplest thing to make. I finally bugged her enough that she emailed me the recipe (back in April of 2004). Here it is in her exact words, although the notes in parentheses are mine:

Tiramisu

2 eggs

250 g mascarpone [one small container]

100 g sugar [about 1/2 cup]

lady fingers

cocoa powder

black coffee

Mix the yellow part of the eggs with the sugar. Add the mascarpone. Beat the white part of the eggs and add them to the previous mix.

In a tray, put 1 layer of lady fingers (soaked in the coffee), 1 layer of the mix, then 1 layer of the cocoa powder. Repeat until you fill out the tray.

Enjoy!
